Almost all of us use the internet either for browsing online, shopping or banking. Often when we visit a website or app, we have to give personal details such as names, addresses, date of births and bank details. If these details fall in to the wrong hands then we can very quickly find ourselves becoming victims of fraud.
With this in mind it is essential that we try and protect ourselves when online. The first way to do this is to ensure that all your passwords are unique, complex and private. Never keep a list of all your passwords in one place. Try and make sure your passwords are different for each site you use as if someone does get hold of your password, at least they can only access that one site.
Ensure your passwords are a mix of numbers and letters and ideally a capital or symbol too. This will make it harder for people to guess your password.
If you suspect your password may have been compromised then be sure to change it immediately and also email the company and ask them to authorise any additional purchases that are made.
