As we go through summer and head into autumn, now is the time to start to think about your security during the winter. Winter is often a time when crimes increase due to the longer dark nights and lee people out and about in an evening. This makes it an easier job for criminals that want to go undetected.
Its not only crimes that occur more during the winter months but If you’re going to experience problems with water leaking, electrics and general maintenance than it is more likely to happen during the colder months.
There are some easy steps you can take to try and avoid falling victim to a break in such as ensuring all doors and windows are locked before you leave the house and installing at least one security systems. A large number of people who get broken in to, have often forgot to lock doors or windows making their home very vulnerable and this may even invalidate your home insurance policy and mean that they will not pay out.
If you are going to be staying away over the winter months, be sure to ger someone to keep an eye on your property and try and use automatic lighting so that it appears someone is in.
